Marni: Fall/Winter 2015

November 24, 2015

Marni’s designer, Consuelo Castiglioni embarked on a mission to modernize the public’s perception of fur in 1994. She incorporates the fabric into ready-to-wear clothes to make it an accessible luxury that can be comfortable and practical for fashion enthusiasts. Since then, Marni has expanded to include handbags, jewelry, and eyewear which are quintessentially Italian luxury. Castiglioni has always remained consistent in her aesthetic and remains as the brand’s designer despite the current waves of changes within the industry for other companies. In fact, her Fall/Winter 2015 collection is no exception as she uses draping and shearling fur to elevate her brand.

The shearling coat is perfect for the upcoming winter months and it resonates with Marni’s inception. Its nomad colour palette and the crossover buttons make it a stylish choice for those who prefer subtle opulence. It is the perfect outerwear for their white and fitted runway dress that takes colour blocking to another level. It has a white neutral front, a burgundy back, and a cinched black belt that is perfect for all settings.

Asymmetric skirts and baggy tunics and cats have made draping a signature aspect of this collection. Just like her fearless experimentations with fur, she includes ruffles into a sweatshirt and adds a denim dress into the collection. Hooded parkas and zipped sweatshirts are also integral to diversify wardrobes across the world. Marni is quite simply the brand for the evolving modern woman.
