Pre-Fall 2014 Balenciaga & Alexander Wang

January 24, 2014

Since December 2012, Alexander Wang occupies the position of creative director for Balenciaga, replacing Nicolas Ghesquière after a 15 year tenure with the French fashion designer house. The arrival of Alexander Wang hasn’t gone unnoticed and many agree on the fact that this Pre-Fall collection is the most successful so far.

From his beginnings at Balenciaga, Wang has put a real emphasis on the overall nature of his creations. While some designs might be a little over thought, his ability to integrate simple shapes, squares, circles and stripes to jackets, jeans and tops is truly remarkable.

While part of the collection is very detailed and complex at times, some items follow a very simplistic template, composed of straight-edged lines and shapes as well as neutral colors and discreet accessories.
