Cahier in Wallpaper Mag

11 novembre 2011

» While the new Americana aesthetic kicked off by Freeman’s in NYC has seen distressed wood, taxidermy and pressed tin ceilings become de rigueur worldwide, architects Saucier + Perrotte are wowing Montreal with their sleek minimalism. Vanguard women’s boutique Cahier d’Exercices (left), set in a 19th-century warehouse in old Montreal, was taken back to its bare bones by the architects, which they then punctuated with bright red columns, specially designed drawers and hidden fitting rooms accessed through sculptural shelving, giving the space a hint of boudoir secrecy. Another retail outlet fashioned by the firm, haute men’s boutique Michel Brisson’s new store in a 1970s Brutalist former bank, follows a similar aesthetic, with an opalescent ceiling offsetting poured concrete, hard-edged racking and minimalist cabinetry.  » saucierperrotte.com
